Connecting a router to the Megalink Network

To connect your router to the Megalink Network please follow the Instuctions below..

Step 1

Connect the lead supplied with your Megalink connection into the WAN port of your router. Only Ethernet lead should be connected to the router's WAN port.
Connect your computer(s) to the router's LAN port(s) or establish connection to it wirelessly.

Step 2

Open your Internet Explorer and log into your router by typing in its IP address (in most cases the default IP is http://192.168.0.1 ). Note that you do not have to be on the Internet in order to access this address because you are just connecting to your router's address. Specify username and password for your router, the default is `admin' and password is blank (nothing) or please looking to your routers instructions.

Step 3

After logging into the router select Home tab and then click on WAN button on your left. Select the 'PPPoE' option. Note that it is very common for broadband modems to carry out the PPPoE authentication for you. In this case you need to select the 'Dynamic IP' option (DHCP) in your router, do not select PPPoE. The home Tab is used on a Dlink router this may differ between makes models of router, look to your routers instruction manuel for help

Step 4

Click on 'Apply'. The router will restart with the new setings. Recycle power to modem.

You may need to adjust the MTU on the WAN port of the router to 1400 in order to improve the performance. In some cases lower MTU setting (576) is required.
If you are having difficulties accessing the Internet:

- Turn the radio modem on your roof and the router off for a minute and then turn the radio modem on first and then the router.

- Log into the router and go to Status page. Note what IP address it is getting on the WAN interface. If the IP address you see under WAN appears to be in the same range you are using on your network (e.g. 192.168.0.x), you will need to change the range you are using on your LAN to something different, e.g. 192.168.88.x. You can do this on your router under Home > LAN. Note that after changing the IP of your router you will only be able to access it through its new IP, e.g. 192.168.88.1. If you have been paying for a statis IP address please contact the Megalink office for detail on setup.

- Uninstall your antivirus software (sometimes disabling or closing the software is not enough) and reboot your PC.

This is a typical router setup and given as a basic guide to setting up your router for home or office, Megalink does not support the setting up of router due to the number of brands and models in the market.

If you are having issue's with setting up please referr to the owners manuel for the product.
